LE MANS - (C)1984 ELECTRIC SOFTWARE

VINGT-QUATRE MINUTES DU MANS
----------------------------
Have you ever been stuck in a traffic jam, dreaming of open
roads and a fast car... wondering what it would be like to
drive a 700 bhp sports car around Le Mans? Now you have the
chance to find out. Brow moist with sweat, you settle into
the driving seat, pulling your safety belt a notch tighter.
The afternoon sun glints on the polished bodyworth of the
around you on the grid. A hush settles over the crowd...
the red light is on. Engines screams as tensions mounts,
the start light flashes to green. You drop the clutch amid
a howl of tortured rubber - the race is on...

LE MANS is a car race simulation employing 3D graphics and
a "driver's-eye view" display to achieve stunning realism.
Based on the world famous 24 hour race, it offers you the
chance to drive a Group C sports racer at speeds up to
360 kph - that's 225 mph!

you have observed the above instructions and consult your
MSX user manual if necessary.

GAME OPTIONS
------------
You have the choice of driving the car yourself (using
joystick or keyboard) or watching a demonstration race. The
demonstration will begin automatically unless you press the
space bar whilst the title music is playing.

DRIVING
-------
You may use the cursor keys or either joystick to control
the car. The following functions are possible.

Function Key/Joystick
Accelerate Up
Decelerate Down
Steer to Right Right
Steer to Left Left
Brake Space Bar/Fire Button

The car will automatically change gear, dependant on your
road speed and throttle opening. The car has a five speed
gear box, the gear being indicated by the position of the
gear lever itself.

The race is over 10 laps with a time limit of 24 minutes.
There are 19 other cars on the track; you start the race in
6th position. At the start of the race there is a five
second countdown on the grid. You should increase engine
revs to maximum to achieve a rapid gataway. The car will
not move until the countdown reaches zero, when the start
lights turn green. The race is now on!

SCORING
-------
You gain points for overtaking other cars, for each lap
complete, and for lapping other cars, i.e. overtaking
whilst in the lead.

Penalties of fuel loss and delays are imposed if you spin
off the track and crash. If you are lucky you may spin off
without crashing - the art is in staying on the track! You
are also penalised if you are lapped when in last position.

Bonus points are awarded for any fuel or time remaining at
the end of the game.

HIGH SCORES
-----------
The high score table is displayed after the race is over.
Current entries are shown first; the table is then adjusted
as necessary to allow your score to be inserted.

You may use any of the MSX alphanumeric or graphic keys to
type in your identity, up to a maximum of 10 characters.
Use BACKSPACE to erase characters and RETURN to terminate
name entry.

CONTROL-STOP
------------
Pressing the CONTROL and STOP keys simultaneously causes
the game to be reset to the title page. This can be used to
halt demonstration game.
