PC99disk - A disk changer utility for PC99
==========================================

Every time when I worked with PC99 it was not so funny to change disks in the
PC99 emulator. Normally you would use the DOS 'COPY' command. But don't forget
to save the old disk in the virtual drive, your work can be lost!
So it was time to create this utility. It can eject (save) a disk from the
virtual drive and reload a new one. Additional it can show the status of the
current disk image. The program will support all four disk drives.

Required system:
----------------

The program runs on every PC under Windows9x or Windows NT. It was tested on a PC with AMD Duron prozessor (1.3GHz / Windows 98) and a Notebook with Intel PentiumIII (600Mhz / Windows ME) successfully. A free disk space of 1.5MByte on your hard disk is neccessary.

A Windows3.11 version (limited to DOS8.3 filenames) is also available. Please
contact me by email (see below).

How to install...
-----------------

First extract the following files from the zip-archive into the main directory
of PC99 (normally C:\pc99\):
PC99disk.exe
PC99disk.ini
W-SCR32.exe

Then extract the other files (except this README.txt file) into your system
drive (normally C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\), if neccessary. Please don't alter these
files, if they still exist.

Now check (and edit, if neccessary) the entries in the PC99disk.ini file. You
can do this with any text editor (e.g. notepad.exe). The entries are:

[PC99 diskpath] The path to the PC99 disk images
[PC99 execute] Your prefered PC99 main program
[PC99 disk] The names of your four PC99 default disk images

That's all to do. Don't forget to save your changes!

How to use...
-------------

You can start the program with a double click on PC99disk.exe or select Execute
in your Start menu. I would suggest to make a short cut form PC99disk.exe to
your desktop.

Now you can see the main window. It shows disk 1 till 4. For each drive you can
see 3 buttons: STATUS, EJECT and LOAD. Click with the mous cursor on the button
to select the function.
STATUS will show the diskname and the size of the current disk image in a small
message box.
EJECT will the current disk image into a new or existing disk image. A dialog
box will open where you can select the image file. If you choose a existing
file, you will be asked to overwrite it.
LOAD will give you the chance to copy a selected disk image into the current
image file. Just choose it from the dialog box.

At the bottom of the main window there are 2 additional buttons. The left one
will start your PC99 emulator, the right one will end the program.

Note
----

This program was created with the German software WINSCRIPT. So it can be that error or system messages will shown in German.
